the 5th part of my enhypen discography review! i was suuuuper looking forward to this one, since everyone seems to agree it's their best. bite me was song of the summer for REAL. i almost wanted to stan cuz of that song but i was like nahhhh i can't be doin all that rn. but it really was THAT good that i was locked in and payin attention!
Ranking system:
๐ - it's peak.
๐ - great song that made me feel something. could slot into a playlist.
๐ - would listen to it voluntarily, a few flaws that are either easy to overlook or a bit charming
๐ฅญ - had potential but the finished product is very flawed
๐ - not going to seek it out, but won't outright complain if i hear it.
๐ - it does absolutely nothing for me but isn't offensive
๐ - does absolutely nothing for me and is offensive
๐ - so bad that it almost wraps back around to good just bc i was laffing so much

So it's sort of an intro. The moment you bit me you are inside me...(???) another instance of their soliloquy stuff having production that deserves an actual song. holy peak, this production...wow the song part is really fackin good is there a full version of this anywhere or is it genuinely just the intro cuz...not me actly looking it up and only finding fanmade vers. and ai vers... FACK.
๐ Bite Me
I recognized peak for what it was. This is a vampire song but also like...seems like it's them as the victim, which isn't what I initially assumed, since they're the vampires and all. That kinda makes it better honestly lol. holy shit the peak of heeseung demanding i devour him followed by the two prechoruses gdfgfghfgh yeah song of the summer. the production is suuuuuuch a heater, too...the only issue here is that it's TOO DAMN SHORT. give me a BRIDGE give me a FINAL CHORUS give me a CODA. but yknow. that's if i HAD to make a complaint and i don't HAVE to. the audio perfection of this divine track.
๐ Sacrifice (Eat Me Up)
HNNNGHHH that synth does things to my body. i guess it's the sister song to bite me, lyrically at least. it's so damn serious to them...literally BEGGING to be devoured literally BEGGING to have their flesh and blood consumed gdfgfgjhhgh. combined with the seasick sort of wobbles in the background...this demonic track lmfao. begging the listener to kill them outright sdfgdfghfh. man and the production quality on this EP is just absolute batshit like who knows how much this cost but WORTH IT. the bridge that's basically like 'literally consume me so i can live forever as part of you' WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEM. this one also gets points for having that gorgeous mv.
๐ Chaconne
I don't know what a chaconne is. But the lyrics of this are just as tormented as the previous tracks...after positioning themselves as victims, it gets a little blurry here, it's like a hypnosis-themed song, i guess, where the listener gets entranced by their 'dance of death'. so the album is like save me save me no actually EAT ME AND KILL ME hahaaa now that you're close enough i have you trapped. lmfao is that the intention? kinda cute. this has like...elegant halloween-inspired emo trap production, which i liked a lot. very pretty song. introduces some distorted guitar sounds which show up on the next track too.

"the price of parting keeps getting more and more expensive" .. kind of a pretty line lol. it's a breakup song and sounds like it, but it also sorta continues the storyline, unable to part with the human that they begged to bite, kill, eat and eternally dance with them lmfao. this one is really catchy and has a trendy kid laroi type of sound that i like lol. the vocals are emotive as fuck here, even thru whatever filters HYBE uses, making it genuinely affecting! this is the one that'll be stuck in my head for the rest of the evening i think i'm a sucker for this type of 'why can't you let me go, i'm in pain!' anthem.

huh and then we have something that sonically does not fit at all lmfao. it's a rock anthem, and it sounds more natural and well-produced than their previous efforts, so props to them on that. it's kinda like shout out with the complaints i had about that song fixed. unfortunately i think the actual base song of shout out was better lol. if the melodies themselves here were stronger, i'd probably like it more. doesn't really help that they say I DON'T GIVE A WHAT! over and over...the entire song sorta hinges on it, actually...tbh this can be like, relegated to bonus track status.
