the 3rd part of my enhypen discography review! this is their first full album, originally released as Dimension:Dilemma. This is the repackage that's the same tracklist, just including Blessed-Cursed and Polaroid love. Everyone's grown now, except jungwon who's almost grown, and Kiki who will be in the oven for a couple more years.
Ranking system:
๐ - it's peak.
๐ - great song that made me feel something. could slot into a playlist.
๐ - would listen to it voluntarily, a few flaws that are either easy to overlook or a bit charming
๐ฅญ - had potential but the finished product is very flawed
๐ - not going to seek it out, but won't outright complain if i hear it.
๐ - it does absolutely nothing for me but isn't offensive
๐ - does absolutely nothing for me and is offensive
๐ - so bad that it almost wraps back around to good just bc i was laffing so much
๐ - special pathetic label for songs that were too pathetic for me to feel good about ranking

Wow kinda like the production here lol. Where's this going! Oh that's right into another Jake soliloquy. He's really feelin this one, too. He's breathing all over the place. The millenial whoops are kinda...well it's just an intro let's just take it as such.

I remember thinking this was a bit of a letdown compared to G-T and D-D, let's see if my opinion changes. I'm not really sure what the theme is...beautiful and grotesque dreams...getting trapped in an endless summer? kinda reminds me of when I was addicted to psychoactive substances in 2019. i like the chorus but the post-chorus could be a lot better, I think. wow jake rly tried his best to hit the notes in that bridge...i mean it probably sounds like i'm being harsh but i do think it's a good kpop song. the fast pace helps it a lot, and i think the production is great as always.
๐ Upper Side Dreamin'
Kiki goin 'addicted to the summer nights' all rizzfully made me snort through my nose. i'm not sure how this fits into their concept. is it about LITERALLY dreaming? the chorus really doesn't pan out the way you'd expect it to. It's so weird that I sort of have to respect it. I'm not sure what they were going for...daft punk circa 2013? like it's sort of avant-garde, which i'm not sure was the intention, but it's certainly the result. there's some weird dissonance going on throughout which at once attracts and repels me. this is really the sort of songs they play in the shopping center in my dreams.

I admit I had an instant negative reaction to that acoustic guitar followed by the shimmeries, but let's give it a chance. wow jay really tried to hit those notes in the chorus! i like the theme, for what it's worth. like them being annoyed by Y/N for disrupting their peace dghfdghfggh. heeseung rly sounds like justin bieber /compliment. it's their first actual ballad-type song, and I guess they needed one (not really but it's kpop) so i'll let this slide. not the worst thing ever.
๐ Go Big or Go Home
The production??? dfhfghjghjskgh okay. jungwon sayin he needs a diamond ring...huh? it's a soundalike of 90s club hit 'show me love', but you're probably gonna associate it more with the jason derulo or kid ink tracks that sample 'show me love'. this gambling anthem lol. this song has a really uncanny feeling to it, because to me it genuinely sounds like an instrumental i've heard before, except with enhypen waffling about over the top of it...is it just me? i looked it up and it doesn't sample or interpolate anything, it just...happens to use a similar sound palette to a lot of other famous western hits. it's like, fine. fun.
๐ฅญ/๐ Blockbuster (ft. Yeonjun)
HYBE thinking this would be a good idea...well i have some bad news for you guys agdfgfhgjskh. yeonjun getting the whole first AND second verse to himself is actually kinda crazy, considering how kpop fans move. the song itself...i mean, ngl, the yeonjun parts are kinda insane and then the enha parts are mellow in comparison, so it's pretty disjointed. add horrible mixing and that weak-ass guitar riff...no. the bridge is the only part where i felt like the ideas sort of came together.
๐/๐ Attention, Please!
the beginning of this song made me laff out loud. it's splitting the difference between...5 seconds of summer and big time rush? not the worst place to end up, honestly. the mixing is kinda fucky, you can tell their voices apart really well in this one, though! i suppose this is where jay's desire to be a rockstar was born? the guitar solo is takin me out. i kinda want to see a heeseung solo version of this cuz i think his voice suits it the most? it goes by really quickly, there were parts that were laugh out loud funny and parts that were really fun, so i'll split the difference.

Do we get another Jake talky...yes we do! Yayyyy he COOLS OFF in the wind ;). man...this one is like particularly funny i just kept laffing. it's so self-serious but undeniably goofy, like...i just can't with these anymore gdfhgfjh.

THIS FACKING PEAK. the amount this song has grown on me isn't normal. i initially thought it was just alright, but then i started listenin to it the way i listen to bladee songs and suddenly it just clicked so bad for me. that sunoo verse goes BANANAAAAAAASSSS. i think more kpop should try and drain a lil, and i think enhypen especially should try to drain more, it suits them! like im serious we need to put heeseung and kiki onto kratom and the rest will be done for us. am i normal for thinkin this is one of their best tts? fgjfhjfgjhgh like idk i listen to it all the time.
๐ Polaroid Love
this being their 'for the fans' song aside, i was actually kinda surprised to see ppl putting this low on their tier lists, it's rly good actually lmao. maybe i'm just easy to please. it's kinda their espresso, same kind of earworminess... it has one of those melodies that tickles the pleasure centers in your brain unless you, like, actively resist it. the distorted vocals that show up on the bridge seem to be present throughout every chorus too, which gives it a bit of an uncanny alvin & the chipmunks choral effect, but I kinda like that too dfgfghgjsgh.

Is jake going to talk to me again. Yep there he is <3 only the glow of my phone screen proves im awake in the night .. he DOES have a little lisp, doesn't he?? dfgfthghjsgh. it's more noticeable in english. they were just makin him record this BS like ok kid you have five minutes
