Orange Blood (2023)
the 6th part of my enhypen discography review! so do we know why this is called orange blood? it's a bit random. after such a drastic leap in quality with dark blood, i'm looking forward to this! i'm only familiar with the title track, which is pretty good.
Ranking system:
๐ - it's peak.
๐ - great song that made me feel something. could slot into a playlist.
๐ - would listen to it voluntarily, a few flaws that are either easy to overlook or a bit charming
๐ฅญ - had potential but the finished product is very flawed
๐ - not going to seek it out, but won't outright complain if i hear it.
๐ - it does absolutely nothing for me but isn't offensive
๐ - does absolutely nothing for me and is offensive
๐ - so bad that it almost wraps back around to good just bc i was laffing so much
๐ - special pathetic label for songs that were too pathetic for me to feel good about ranking

I'm assuming this is another soliloquy...yep. it's the length of a full song, though, so i wonder if something interesting will happen. lyrically, it seems like it's a vampire's longing to be human lol. like not wanting to remain immortal when the person they love only has a finite amount of time to live? lmao flubby's mayonegg voice <3

That funky bass lmfao this sounds so expensive. Heeseung rly sings the shit out of that prechorus. I've always found the chorus melody a little unsatisfying for what it is, though. Like it shouldn't play out like that, idk why I feel that way. they're begging the listener to kill them again WHY ARE THEY SO SUICIDAL??? the production quality saves it tho, doing a lot of heavy lifting. I think it's pretty good but i think the prechorus should've built up into a more deserving chorus tbh.

mfw i had to play the first 20 seconds over again cuz heeseung was serving me a beautiful quivering VOCAL. lmfao. omg and finally admitting they wanna kill the human girl dfgfghygjgh YASSSSS!!! wow why's this totally a banger as fuck. the vocals sound great too especially heeseung like YAS SING IT FOR ME. also im a sucker for the monster learns human love plotline gdfjfgjh one of the best tropes. the production's understated and puts emphasis on the vocals, so it's great they finally figured out mixing <3 like this is kinda peak as fuck and should've been the title track but what do i know.

omg this is the enoclock theme song where im drivin thru the city full of enhypen billboards! gawd heeseung has such a pretty voice. and they're saying 'far away' ?? i thought it was 'murder, murder'... "give me your love to me" #LYRIX. this is kind of a weird song because the entire time, the production just kinda...simmers. it never explodes the way you'd expect. i guess i can kinda respect it for that, just cuz i like when something subverts my expectations. kiki BEGS me to keep his ashes on the bridge which is pretty awesome.

Oh they rly figured out how to produce a track like this, awesome! i like the verses and prechorus more than i like the chorus, which sounds like something i've heard before. starting from verse 2, there are these haunting little pretty sounds in the background, i love that! like it's pretty, i think it serves its purpose, its cute/pleasant, i just feel the production is rly nice and is a bit wasted on a weaker chorus. maybe it's a grower.
